I haven't taken BC pills for years because of migraines. My OB/GYN suggested Yaz because it contains such low a dose of hormones. I started taking Yaz almost two weeks ago. I started feeling like I'm on my period. I was moody and depressed the first week and a half. It has gotten better, but I have cramps. They feel the same as menstrual cramps, but I'm not bleeding. Is this normal?

Yes, it's normal. Read the package insert that came with your pills. It explains all the common side effects.

If you have a history of migraines, pills like Yaz aren't typically even recommended. There are some other health problems when taking hormonal birth control containing estrogen.

I have even tried Mircette (which is supposed to be for migraine sufferers), but still get migraines. I get them during the placebo week because of the drop in hormones. My OB/GYN insisted that I try Yaz because of the low hormones and only 4 days of placebo's. I thought I would give it a try.

Thanks!

so far ive really loved yaz, i havnt really felt any side effects from it, but im about to have a period so we'll see how it goes. I've lost 10 pounds on it, which is kinda wierd, but i think its b/c its a lower dose of estrogen.

The 10lbs you lost is water weight. The progesterone in Yaz (and also Yasmin) is chemically similar to the diuretic (spironolactone) and causes a diuretic effect. Did you notice that you had to pee more? This is also the same reason that people should get there potassium levels checked while taking Yasmin (and I will assume Yaz also). This specific diuretic causes a person to lose water but keep some of the potassium that is usually lost with urine.
