Hello everyone,
Just wanted to share something. I have been suffering from asthma fro around 15 years and quite severe. Last year I went to a course on Butyeko system of breathing and ever since I havent had an attack, and sometimes I get the symptoms then I do the simple exercises and its gone.
Very very simple rules and exercises. Lots of information on the internet.
regards
Sunny

What exactly is Butyeko? If my memory serves, it is a kind of breathing technique. Is it really effective in reducing asthma symptoms?
I think that asthma cannot be cured at least at this point. However, if Butyeko can help alleviate asthma symptoms, let me know how it works. :)

Hi
I just received the Buteyko package which includes a video, manual, and workbook. I haven't yet tried the exercises but will let you know how it works out. My allergist poo-poos the whole notion but I don't see the harm in trying. The general philosphy is that asthmatics "overbreathe" and thereby release too much carbon dioxide, something that is needed in certain amounts for our bodies to run properly. In an attempt to avoid releasing too much of this substance, our bronchial tubes constrict to keep it in. Please don't quote me; I'm not a doctor. I'm just summarizing what the whole concept is about.

Thank you for the info.
I often practice the relaxation belly breathing, but, according to the Buteyko method, this could worsen my asthma. :-)
Anyway, I hope Buteyko will reduce your symptoms. :)
