i am currently on 1/2 of a 10mg pill of lexapro a day. my doctor has just prescribed me .5 mg of klonopin also. my question is.....i am using the lexapro for anti-anxiety not depression....so will the two meds double up and make me depressed? i don't want them to both do the same thing? she said to only take 1/2 of the klonopin in the morning and 1/2 before bed. i know nothing about these meds really so any advice would help.

I take that particular combination daily. For me it is 10 mg of Lexapro and 1 mg of clonazepam a day. For me the Lexapro works best as an antidepressant and the clonezapam compliments it as an antianxiety agent. Unfortunately, thses meds don't really "cure" me, but they sort of hold my anxiety and depression to a bearable level that allows me to function. I spent about 2 years off meds and I was pretty much a wreck during that period. My quality of life has definately improved, but I am still searching for that elusive cure to anxiety.

to elka, they wont make you depressed klonapin is a valium type med that always helps anxiety, lexapro is a prozac type med that sometimes helps but not always, you may need to try it forr 6 weeks to see if it will help you, the dose will later need upping to 10 or more but a low dose is good at the start
both meds go well together, but I wouldnt take K before bed unless having trouble falling asleep, I would take it morning and at lunchtime
