View Full Version : Taking back-to-back packs of Yasmin

Hi, I have a question. I have been taking Yasmin for a couple of years and love it. In February, I wanted to skip my period (Valentine's Day), so I just started a new pack as soon as I finished the active pills. I noticed that in addition to skipping my menstrual period, I skipped my menstrual migraine. I did this again in March and April. So I haven't had a period --or any bleeding at all -- since January, nor have I had a migraine. Normally my migraines are terrible, so skipping the migraine has been even more meaningful to me than skipping the period.

This seems to be working out pretty well, but I am concerned that I need to take a week off. I have read a lot of posts where people say only take back-to-packs once or that you should only skip your period for 3 months. But I have read other posts where people say that since these periods are pill-induced, it really doesn't matter if you have them anyway.

So I'm not sure if there is a right answer. If anybody has any thoughts on how long I can safely keep doing this, I would appreciate it. And what is the danger in continuing to take the active pills without allowing for a period? Also, is there any special concern based on the fact that I am doing it with Yasmin?

Thanks!

Its perfectly safe to not have a period when on birth control, just keep taking the active pills and dont take the spacer pills. If it works for you then keep doing it. I dont like to not have my period so i "take" the spacer pills.

Well you need to seek medical advice on this. I know some people are advised to tri- cycle on the combined pill, but not to miss bleeding for more than 3 months. This is to protect against endometrial cancer. I don't know about Yasmin. Perhaps you could inform us when you find out?
