View Full Version : Toe Spasms - Not Sure What This Is

I occassionally get spasms just beneath the area of the toes next to the big toe and the middle toe. It goes up into the toes and makes the toe next to the big toe totally sieze up and go rigid, and it is incredibly excruciating for as long as it lasts.

Seems to happen only when I'm at rest and have my legs streched out. My husband has to come over and massage it until it stops, which can be for a few to many minutes. Doesn't seem to be any pattern to this happening.

The past few days I've been noticing that there are times where the area now feels kind of numb at times, almost like there is pressure sitting on it, but there isn't any (this is even without shoes on). I don't ever wear any type of show which is tight, high or presses my feet in any way because I've had problems with PF in the past, so I tend to baby my feet as much as possible and wear reasonable shoes at all times.

Does anyone know what might be causing these spasms? It's only in one foot, there are no bumps, bruises, discolorations or any other unusual things noticible.

Thanks!

I'm no foot Dr but I do get toe cramps.
All of my toes.
I Take potassium suppliments and that does help my Toe Cramps.

It seems we have the same problem, I wake up with a stinging pain in all my toes but only on the right foot. I have to get up and walk around to relieve the pain. I am fine during the day, this only happens at night and not every night ,tho the the painless nights are few and far between. My doctor likens this to Phantom pain that amputees get and really does not have a solution other than put me on a anti-depressant drug which I do not want to do since this is not a "full time" pain.
If there is anyone out there that has a name for this I would be interested in knowing
