She's been having night sweats for years. Asthma attacks, chronic dry coughing. We chalked it up to smoking and left it at that. But a few weeks ago her energy level plummeted. She began coughing up rust-colored muccus and complaining of a horrible taste in her mouth with each cough. With a little trickery I got her to the ER where they did a chest exray and put us both in isolation. Even though not all of her symptoms pointed to it, they immediately suspected Tuberculosis and began the very aggessive treatment that left her sick as a dog. Here is what they saw: In her right lung, just behind her breast, there was a round donut-shaped thing, about an inch in diameter and surrounded by infection. Other than that, both lungs appeared healthy enough. The TB tests came back negative as did one for mold. There was another, starting with a "c" some kind of yeast thing but the doc said that didn't matter too much. He is the chief of staff and a lung specialist. He has no idea what this is. If anyone has even heard of symptoms like these please help us. The biopsy results come back soon but something tells me they will be as inconclusive as everything else.
