Ive had diabetes for 11 years and have found my diabetes specialists to be a mixed blessing, they all tried to frighten me, but the first one, a famous diabetes pioneer, now retired thankfully, got my tablets completely wrong, not realising that I was insulin resistant.
I recently got to the stage of being maxed out on actos, daonil and diabex, with the sugar still too high and facing going on to insulin.
I had earlier discovered that a daily asprin made my tablets all work much better.... the specialists didnt want to hear of this, sadly
so I decided to diet and cut out all junk food and follow the glycemic index diet, I lost weight and my tablets are working much better, I was getting hypos and had to reduce the dose quite a lot.
none of my doctors, diabetes specialists or diabetes educators ever said that reducing weight by eating less fat would make my diabetes tablets work so much better.
finally, none of them has ever shown any interest in finding out how much insulin I am actually still producing.
sorry if I'm not worshiping the medical profession enough for some of you
