Hello all! Happy late Moms day! I was just reading and catching up on everything. It seems like I have little to no time to do anything here recently! My middle child, Jace, was booted out of school and they want him in an alternative school that deals with behavioral/anger management. I have been really busy trying to set something up that can academically be good for him as well as behavioral wise. The school and I sat down and decided to put him in partial for the rest of the year. Since the school requested this they have to pay the expenses to have him in partial at NorthKey. (That really helps!) We also are setting something (a camp) up for Jace over the summer. All this and he is only the bipolar one! lol

Tyler is doing SO MUCH BETTER! He is slowly but surely learning the PECS. (Picture Exchange Communication System) I am really excited and this has brought me so much more hope. He is also saying "lalala" and "bababa" lately. I just hope he doesn't stop. A lot of times he learns something, does it a few weeks and its over and you don't see it again. He does that way too much! Is that normal??? He also has learned "Peek a Boo". He does it his own little way, a lot of times not even covering his eyes, just a part of his head. (lol it’s really cute) Still though he is understanding some words so that’s really a plus! He is sure getting there. I just had to get use to his tantrums and I still don't know what to do when he hits me. Anyways...Had to give ya an update. It’s been really something else around here lately...Take care everyone!

Is it just you he hits when he has a tantrum or is it anyone who is around. I know the Mental Health Dept. here can arrange an evaluation and give you help in figuring out and developing and implementing a plan to help you with your son. How old is he? Is he in any special program now? I had the problems with my son throwing temper tantrums and hitting me when he would become extremely frustrated at not having his wants understood. He's non-verbal. It was only me that he would hit. He doesn't hit me anymore. We have worked through it. My son never meant to hurt me, I don't think he ever even intended to hit me, but when he would get really upset his arms and hands seemed to have a mind of their own. He got me good in the eye once.

Hello taless...He hits anyone who is around when he gets mad. Dh got him angry today and he came over and hit me. lol It is cute now but sometimes he can hit me hard! Tyler is only 18 months old so its not so bad right now. I am thinking whats going to happen long term though. He is already a BIG boy. He looks to be about 3. Ty is also non-verbal. (so far) So he gets really upset when we can't understand what he wants. I worry because I have a almost 6 year old (bipolar) that hits me and has horrible tantrums that can last hours at times. I just hope Tyler doesn't end up like Jace. I would be totally heartbroken. Right now when Jace starts his tantrums Ty screams till I get him away from Jace. Those two are like having a wolf and a chicken in the same house...and I gaurentee if a wolf is sitting in chicken's house he isn't gonna order a veggie platter! lol He threateds to hit Ty a lot and sometimes tries. Its rough!

Anyways...thanks for the welcome back! Have a great night!

My heart goes out for your. I hope someone in a similar situation can give you some advice. I don't know if I could handle two children with special needs. Just one is such a challenge. I have a lot of respect for parents who have more than one child with a disability.
