It seems that whenever I make an extra effort and take extra time while taking a poop, my butthole hurts for a while, sometimes even a day after. Looking at it, it almost seems like the sphyncter is inflamed and angry after I've done my business, therefore it's somewhat bothersome when I sit down or go to the bathroom again.

This happens once a month or less, and I haven't been to a doctor yet.

It could be hemorrhoids, or possibly an anal fissure. An anal fissure can be very painful, and is known to hurt for a long time after a bowel movement. Using sitz baths, or soaking in a hot tub for 20 minutes after a bowel movement can help relieve the pain, but you probably have to see a doc to get a more long term fix for the problem, if that's what it is... they usually prescribe a steroid suppository or some nitro paste to help relax the area so it can heal. In any event, sounds like you need more fiber in your diet. It's not supposed to take effort (even though it does for many).

Hi cherok, sounds like hemmoroids which can be caused by constipation.You can get many creams from the pharmacy which seem to work well. Try and eat more fibre and you should be ok. Good Luck

An update on my 'issue', I bought some topical hem-specific cream from a Shoppers drugstore and have been applying it a minimum of six times a day like the package instructs. I have also been having sitz baths about twice a day, although with the nature of my work, I'm either sitting or standing for long peroids of time.

As a result, my little friend has become more painful, slightly discolored (from red/pink to more of a whitish pink deal), but no larger in size. Now that I've grossed you out, please tell me something good.

This is something I couldn't even wish on my worst enemy.. Never again will I deficate furiously

Maybe you should have a doctor take a look?
