Please read my previous notes. Upon more research I am finding a link between restless leg syndrome and diabetes. Could that be a cause or link to my constant shaking?

Mustang95 06-22-2003, 02:02 AM Please read my previous notes. Upon more research I am finding a link between restless leg syndrome and diabetes. Could that be a cause or link to my constant shaking? Mustang95 06-22-2003, 02:05 AM I have type 2 diabetes; my sugars are all over the place. I am on meds and I'm slowly getting under control. My legs are constantly shaking. I've noticed it gets worse after I eat. Even worse if I've eaten something with sugar. Out of control if it's a lot of sugar I took in. I'm being treated for the shaking from the point that's its part of depression and not a diabetic issue or insulin issue. Is there anyone out there that has experienced something similar to this? Mustang95 06-22-2003, 02:08 AM Thanks for the info, but the shaking I'm talking about is not actually from a low blood sugar. Right now I'm lucky if I see something as low as 130. I was on a med that brought my sugars down too low and I got the whole sweat, pale, hot deal. This shaking is specific to my legs. What I feel is a tingle sensation and an uncontrolled urge to shake. Its way different then blood sugar too low or even too high. It is almost like saying I'm allergic to insulin. I'm told I produce insulin, just don't use it very well. So I have to figure my body sends it out when I eat. So it tries to send more based on the sugar/food I take in. Now my body may not use it, but it seems I react from it. It's really weird I know. doormat54 06-22-2003, 10:10 AM I don't know exactly what the answer is to your question, but I have type 1 and I also have R.L.S. (but mostly at night), just thought you'd like to know if you figure something out. delrae4753 06-22-2003, 10:35 AM I am type to diabetic with sugars under control and I too have restless leg syndrome mine is associated with neuropathy I too find myself shaking my legs its mostly the left leg but occasionally the rt leg and i do it without realizing i am soing it. It occurs mostly at night, although it will also occur in situations where I must be fairly motionless for a while (planes, buses, etc.). I discovered, quite accidentally, that vicodin seems to quiet it down, so I use that if it's really bothering me to the point where I can't sleep. I've also discovered that it gets worse if my blood sugar is out of control, but better when I keep the blood sugar under tight control. |
