 [I]I have been on the pill (othro tri-cyclen lo) for almost a month. I was on the dark blue pill and on the second day(day 17) of taking them i started bleeding , not heavy very light and but sometimes its brownish and other times its red and i had bad cramps. I am now on my forth green pill and i still have bleeding. It has been going on for 9 days. Before on the pill i had my period for seven days but since i started in the dark blue and not in the green is that normal? Do you think that it was break threw bleeding & now im gonna have my normal period during the green pills now until next sunday (im a sunday starter). It doesnt really look like its gonna stop either. has this happen to anyone? Will it go away once i start my second cycle Please Respond. Thanks

Read the leaflet/insert that came with your pills. It will explain that spotting is common and normal during the first few months of using hormonal birth control. You may not have a shorter or regulated cycle until your body adjusts to the hormones. The spotting should stop after you start your next pack, but it may start again. If it continues after completing your next pack, consult your physician. While it's normally recommended that you give a brand of pills at least 3 months to regulate your cycle, you and your physician may want to consider a stronger pill to stop the spotting.
