Okay, I went to one doctor and they ran a diabetes test and it came back that i was very close to being a borderline diabetic, so she put me on the diabetic diet and said come back in 6 months.
Then I went to another doctor a couple weeks later cuz my sugar has been running 250-325...and I get real tired when its this high and my mind feels like I'm going out of it...and my vision is blurred. In the morning when i get up, its almost always normal around 126, one morning it was 159. Anyway, this doctor told me to go off the diabetic diet that I didn't need it.

So how do i get my sugar down, if they don't want to put me on meds. Am I a diabetic or am I not? I'm confused. When they tested me, they didn't do a blood/glucose. They took my blood told me to go out and eat and took my blood again. Also had a urine sample, that said my ketones were too high, whatever that means. If you can help, email me or write back on the board. Send emails to donsmom1983@aol.com

sounds to me like they ran a glucose tolerance test on you they may want to monitor the sugars for a while before they give you meds thats what my drs did.

Sunshine,

Your post really disturbs me. Your sugar is too high in my opinion. I am new to diabetes but the sugar readings you listed sound diabetic to me. I would go see a different doctor one morning soon. Go before you have breakfast. Just my opinion.

Your sugar is too high. I would suggest that you cut your sugar and caffine intake, drink water. Use Splenda as a substitute. Stay away from Aspartamine. I suggest you visit the Splenda website or take a search vehicle and look for "cooking with Splenda"
Some herbal medicines are good to take and research would be worth your while.

Your sugar level is way too high. The non-diabetic fasting range is 70-110. Non-diabetic 2 hrs. after a meal is 120 or less.

I do not agree with either doctor you have been to. Find a doctor who is well versed in diabetes care. Your readings definitely are in the diabetes range and needs to be addressed.

Omit starches and sugar from your diet, lose weight if overweight, eat 3 small meals plus 2 or 3 light snacks. Exercise, walking is a good one.

This is the time to try lean meat, green and yellow veggies in moderation and get the BS back down. Once you have the diabetes under control then add back a small amount of a "complex carbohydrate", that is a whole grain (not ground).

The Sugar Busters diet is a good one to try. Most diets allow too much starch for a diabetic.
