I started having problems with sweating about the same time I was diagnosed with diabetes. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem.

Thanx!

Yeah, me too. I find that when my sugar runs high I sweet a lot more. I keep the air in the home about 65 and a fan on me and I'm still hot all the time. I have not found a simple answer for me, just to try and keep the sugars down, but I'm really bad still with control.

I do the same although I've never considered it a part of my Diabetes. Is there a direct link?

I have never been told it's a connection, but I just notice it happening for me that way.

I have had Type 2 diabetes for 3 years and almost every night while sleeping I have horrible sweating..it wakens me and my pillow is all wet and my neck is wet. I did mention this to my doctor and he said that many of his diabetic patients have this problem. So maybe there is a connection. I did have this sweating problem before I was diagnosed with diabetes. I would appreciate comments that any of you may have. Thanks

Fergie... it sounds as though you are suffering the primary symptom of Autonomic Neuropathy of the smooth muscles. It affects your sweat glands somehow and you wake up in the middle of the night lying in a pool of sweat. It was happening to me, and it was incredible. There is much confusion with this symptom because many people experience excessive sweating caused by a few different reasons. However, your description sounds so familiar. I would wake up in a pool of sweat. The problem was diagnosed, along with painful painful symptoms of Peripheral Neuropathy. They started me on Nuerontin (Gabapentin) right away. As they slowly ramped me up (now 3600mg per day) the sweat pooling went away.

I thought you might like to hear. The problem also causes you to not be able to sense your body temp. You'll feel chills also. I began to wear a cotton cap to bed.

God Bless. Woodrunner.

My husband has had type 1 for 35 years and he has constant sweating problems. Even in winter, if he does any kind of work or exerts at all he is soaked. There must be a connection between that and sugar.
