View Full Version : D-Dimer Question

My D-Dimer test came back today as 4560. I had this test done five months ago after I collapsed and ended up in the ER and it was at 2720 then. At that time they did not find a PE or DVT - so they sent me home.

Does anyone know what this could mean? I am in my early 30s, I have had no surgeries or trauma, no long plane rides before, etc. I do have a small-moderate Atrial Septal Defect (hole in my heart) that I am having closed in the fall, but the cardiologist feels this is unrelated.

Unfortunately, my GP has no idea what this means and I am quite some time away from being able to see a specialist.

Thank you.

My d dimer 1 yr ago was high, But not that high. The normal range is : 0-255 mine was 298. I was also on BC so I stopped that and they sent me for a lung scan to make sure I didn't have a Pulmonary Embolism. They found nothing. As a precaution I am off Bc since they can cause them. I hope they find out what's going on that is a very high result.
