wake up every morning with stiff sore lower back, sometimes feels like mild spasms, makes me think it could involve kidneys? My back feels fine when I go to bed; have been sleeping on sleepnumber bed for 2-3 yrs & this problem is relatively new (3-4 months); have adjusted my sleep number up & down; still have the problem; no history of back problems other than muscle spasms rarely, or tired lower back when physically overworked; have had some bursitis problems in a hip over my 60 yrs; this morning back issue subsides when I get up, so I get up; hot shower feels great on it; as I get into my day, my back is good; but I go thru this same thing every morning...?????

Hi Maggie... is pain close to the spine? It could be a signe of degenerative disc or osteoarthritis of disc... Many times, in the early stages of oa, as you move it feels ok and is stiff in morning..

Glucosamine and condroitin are natural supplements that help halt the progression of OA.... In the meantime, you may want to see a spine specialist and get an xray or mri (they can see oa with xray)

I do feel better, but not sure if it is the excercise, or the glucosamine or both. I have been taking it anyway for the past 3 months.. I hear alot of good stuff about it.. I asked my neurosurgeon and he too said he heard good things about it and that I should keep taking it.. Normally, doctors frown upon anything alternative, but in this case, they are not, so this is promising..

I also heard that it is important to drink alot of water with it, as it is needed to hydrate the joints... So, excercise, stretching, glucosamine and water are my latest thing...

Feel better everyone!

Maurice
