Hi just wanted to know if anyone could help me with this question.

Thank you

Hi! I think ESI is medicine injected in the epidural space near a bad disc. And a selective nerve root block is targeting a specific nerve that is pinched, etc. coming from your vertebrae (I have not had this kind, so I could be wrong). There is also facet injections/blocks for the facet joints at the side of your vertebrae. I never realized how many kinds of injections there are-I feel like the guinea pig being stuck with all these needles all the time! On June 22 I'm going in for radio frequency lesioning (nerve burning) for my lower lumbar. good luck! Kera

They are two different types of injections. There is also the bi-lateral and the facet joint injection as well.

Thank you both for your answers. I was not sure. I had the Transforminal esi already(did not work) now have to have SNRB. From what I read they sounded similar, just wanted to make sure.

Right they are fairly similar, these are in different locations however they are supposed to do the same thing - relieve the pain or at least lower the inflammation so you can continue with a therapy plan.

Best of luck to you and hope you get better soon!
