View Full Version : The Binky Fairy

Well, the Binky Fairy came to our house last night to whisk away my 3 year old's binkies. We had been prepping him for a week telling him that the Fairy was coming. It was a little tough. But he did end up going to sleep wthout it for the first time in his life. He was such a trooper. He cried, but didn't throw a fit. He was just truely sad that his "friends" were going away.

He put them in a special box for the Binky Fairy to come and get while he was sleeping. We told him that she would take them to little babies who didn't have any binkies and he liked that (he also likes giving old toys to charity so that other kids can have toys) And then she left him a toy in the morning when he woke up that he has wanted for months as a "thank you"

The sweetest part was when he put the binkies in the box, closed it and then kissed the box.

I didn't think I'd ever break him of the binky habit, so there is hope out there for anyone who is still struggling with them. Maybe the Binky Fairy can visit your house too!

What a great idea. I just got DS off the binky too. He started get a rash around his mouth so we knew it was time.
Our problem is our DD uses them too so we couldn't have them taken away.I went the bribery route :D . He wanted the bob the tractor sooo bad and we told him that they were only for big boys and he persisted so we said you can be big if you give up your nuk! We have been nuk free 1 month. 1st week was tough but he tells everyone I don't need a nuky anymore.

Where do you donate your old toys? Thats a good idea.

That was a good idea. We took my son's away when he turned 2. I would have used your idea but he still doesn't understand concepts like the binky fairy. We just waited until he lost the very last one and didn't buy him anymore so we were forced into not giving in if he cried for it. Surprisingly it wasn't as bad as we thought it would be when we finally got him of the pacifer. I am glad you were able to get him off it!
