I have struggled with constipation all of my life but not like recently. I have been having a hard time for the past week, often forcing it out, and have seen slight traces of light pink when wiping. This has never happend before to me. Did this ever happen to anyone, and if so does anyone know what it could be.. hemoroids, fissula.. of just from straining??? Help!

Probabaly just a small fissure, but you might want to talk to a doctor about it anyway. You could be helped with medication or possibly just a change in your diet.

It could be a fissure, I've had one. They are very painful and can cause bleeding. I've been battling it for almost a year.. the docs usually give a hydrocortisone suppository to use twice a day. When that didn't work for me, they gave me nifedipine (nitro) paste to use.. that helped some, but mine won't heal and they are talking about doing surgery to fix it. I can remember the exact moment when i developed mine.. I was having a lot of problems with constipation.. ugh horrible!! Maybe you can try to soften your stools with something like colace (sold at a drug store otc). Maybe whatever is there will heal if you don't have to strain to move your bowels..
At any rate.. GOOD LUCK!!

Sounds like hemorrhoids. You need to be on a bowel program--drink lots of water, eat high fiber foods (bran etc.) fruits (prunes are good) drink fruit juices (prune juice is a good choice). Remember warmth stimulates the GI tract so include teas, soups and even coffee. An excellent suppository that calms down hemorrhoids is Anusol and you can buy it at most drugstores over the counter.

You could also drink a fiber type drink in the morning, followed by a lot of water. I find that helps me.

Thanks all.. you were all really helpful. I actually bought a stool softener today but didn't use it yet. My mom recommended some prune juice and I used that and had a much better time going today, no pink on the toliet tissue. It only happened that one time, so I'm not sure if its hemmoriods. I normally don't go everyday, maybe every 3 days. I need to make sure that I never have that kind of hard painful stool anymore, so I bought some high fiber cereal and loads of fruits and salads... thanks again.

anyone who is reading this realize this. bad constipation can be caused by hypercalcemia. (blood calcium level that is too high) it can't hurt to check it out.
