View Full Version : Brandy Cleared Up My Bronchial Flare-Ups

I guess after over 20 years of occasional bronchial flare-ups (Drs. never figured it out but it's not chronic or allergic bronchitis nor asthma) I have finally hit the nail on the head in figuring out how to control it by drinking no more than a shot of brandy a day. I am not a habitual drinker at all though I enjoy the taste of liquor but not being drunk. Anyhoo, I thought of trying this because, number one, there is alcohol in cough supressants and two, I've often heard that in the olden days they gave sick people brandy.
Also, in the last few months since I came down with a non-productive pneumonia (yeah, I didn't know there was such a thing either), and even though the x-rays showed that it cleared up, I have had bouts of shortness of breath---but now, with the brandy treatments, I am back to my usual energetic self.
Now I am wondering, has anyone out there has had success with controlling a lung condition with any type of alcohol?

I know my grandparents used to talk about making a "hot toddy" to drink when they had a cold or cough. I'm not sure what was in it, but I know it was some kind of liquor and maybe lemon juice that was heated to drink. They said it would nip it in the bud! I have on occasion take a swig of whiskey and all it did for me was make me drowsy and I would get a good night's sleep out of it. But the next day the cough would be back.
