:o I am having some general symptoms like abdominal pain and burning throughout my abdomen. There is nothing wrong with my movements, though: no constipation, no diarrhea, and all is on schedule etc. The pain gets pretty bad at times, and I have definitely had a loss of appetite. One thing I've noticed is that I have been burping a lot. The fact of the matter is (funny as it is to say), I'm normally a rear-end gasser. I have a husband and two sons, yet I can put them to shame in this department. I do my share of trying to conceal it most of the time, but it doesn't change that it's constantly happening. Since I've been having this pain, though, I hardly ever do it! Instead, I've been having the burping. Any suggestions? Thank you for any response.

Hi Toot Toot - same thing here with me too. I have Gerd which I think is the cause of it. I havent found anything as yet to relieve it. So if anyone has any suggestions in shifting the matter south, it would be great.
I read somewhere tho that if your food isnt digested properly, it will sit there and ferment , causing a build of of gas. I am on a ppi which is supposed to stop the stomach from forming too much acid, so therefore maybe not digesting properly. I thought about digestive enzymes and giving them a shot. Other than that I don't know. ?? I do go on a regular basis same as you tho. I have a hiatus hernia and also shatzki ( sp ) ring.
take care

Thanks so much for the response. I'm thinking about seeing a doctor before long, but I'm afraid of the we-don't-know-what's-wrong un diagnosis, leading to more frustration. I guess I won't know til I try, though.
Any additional feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, my daughter was having a lot of stomach pain, was regular also. She had blood work done and found an elevated sed rate. After a year and a half, we finally got a diagnosis of crohn's disease. From what I understand, crohn's presents itself slightly different in different people because it can be in different places, anywhere from the mouth to the anus. I have heard from several people that if you change your diet to a high fiber diet, and that makes you feel worse, there is a good chance for crohn's disease. My daughter was in agony when the doctor thought she had IBS and tried the high fiber diet, and then different pills for IBS. Trying a high fiber diet is something you can do on your own. It can either help, which for a lot of GI things it does, or if you feel worse, I would make that doctors appointment. Good luck!!

You can go to the top of this page and do a Google search on the Web--- Controlling Intestinal Gas---
You will find much info-- most belching is caused by swallowing air.
I wish you well~~~Harry

Thanks, Harry. If I wasn't having associated pain, I'd be inclined to believe that my sudden burst of burp attacks is due to something as general as swallowing air. Thanks for all the feedback; I appreciate it a lot! :D

I have been belching about an hour after eating for 9 months. I also have diarrhea and that is what the doctor's are giving me meds for. I thinkthe belching is the key.
Well, I got myself sicker trying a gluten free diet and now my belching brings up particles into my mouth of partially digested food. But I wasn't belching up any acid with the particles, no heartburn.
I have been trying to find info on belching on the internet the whole time. Yesterday I typed in 'no stomach acid' and found this. Hypochlorhydria or Low stomach acid.
Main symptom 'burping' not belching as I was searching. Also, diarrhea or constipation, huge appetite, big belly, feeling full after eating, dry skin, thin or weak hair, weak nails. I hit on all the points but the nails.
I am going to ask my doctor to run the acid test this week, but I feel better just by adding some more vitamins and more vinegar to my diet.
This might not be you but look it up.
