Well my sorta boyfriend. L works security at that hotel and he is so upset about me getting fired that he went to HR saying how can u fire a disabilited person. So anyways apperently the hr manager had no idea and my old boss didn't pass on the info that i had a slight disability. The thinmg is I don't need extra equipment and all that just need understanding that i will be slower. So he told my bf, L was told that if i wanted to come in and speak to the HR manger i could. Now not sure what I should do.Plus i'm getting so hungry all the time from the stress but don't want to gain the weight. Its like well I told my boss about my disability hoping it would help me and now its just making it worse, because it didn't get passed along. The weird thing is I told some co-workers about it so I don't see how the new management was not aware. Well i will try the bookstore thing.

If I were you I would go back and see if they will rehire you...at least then you will have a job, and you can look for another one at the same time. On the other hand, I don't blame you for not really wanting to go back either, because they probably just don't want to get sued. But hey, I would use that to my advantage when I could :)

Having CP or any disability is hard thing because it varies from people to people and situation to situation. Most "normal" folk can't understand the concept of a disability so when "favors" are done to accomodate, jealousy arise. I personally think you should try your luck and see if you can get rehired. Just know that this could be a good and bad thing as certain people may look at you differently because they think you're trying to work the system and get over not realizing that because you have a disability its hard for the same rules of life to apply to you.

Do what your heart tells you to do and what you're most comfortable with. Hey your boyfriend stood up for you. That was cool.

Katherine,

I would try to get rehired, maybe even in another position. It may work out

Yes, go back. Talk with them and then decide if you want your job back. Even if you don't decide to return, your talk with the folks in HR might make them more aware and make them more sensitive to another employee with a disability. And maybe you'll decide to return!
