Hi I feel very blessed to find these boards. They give me a piece of mind at times I need it to.
I am not new to being Bipolar I though. It was not until recently when my BPD esculated to seeing things and hearing things that I was able to take a step back to realize I needed to be med compliant. That was about 2 mo ago. However the meds were helping then my doctor changed them I crash then started cycling again. I can not get my Son back until I am stable, which tears me up. Also I dont understand why my cycling is so much more deeper (Higher highs I spent alot, and deep lows very painful) when I am now compliant. I feel as if I cant be in my own head and I am far from myself. I checked back into an out patient service (2nd time this month). But it does not seem to be helping as much as last time.
Any advice or can anyone relate.
Again thanks for these message boards!

Carla8Fire, one thing.
You say, It was not until recently when my BPD esculated to seeing things and hearing things that I was able to take a step back to realize I needed to be med compliant.
Can you explain what you mean, when you say you were seeing things and hearing things.

They say it is a part of my Bipolar, but I started seeing people crawling on my walls and hearing voices. Distant voices like there was someone in my house not defined as to what they were saying. My doctor say it happens with Bipolar 1 when there are stresses, for some. The meds he has me on has helped and it doesnt happen any more. I knew what I was seeing and hearing werent real but it still scared me. Enough to go to the doctor as soon as I could get in.

What meds did they out you on?
I never heard of seeing and hearing things coming with BP, just schizophrenia.

I saw that you noted you are Bipolar I. I am also BPI and, unfortunately, quite familiar with halucinations during an acute manic episode. Hallucinations are psychotic features and more prevelant in schizophrenia than bipolar. From what I understand, BPII patients do not experience this. I remember, during my last manic episode, I saw all sorts of things and heard all sorts of things. I heard sirens and airplanes all day but never saw an emergency vehicle or aircraft. I was driving around town and stopped at a green light because I swore it was red. The car coming to a schreeching hault and the horn honking indicated to me that I should probably go. I also firmly believed that a friend of mine had died and that I saw it happen. She is alive and well. Shortly thereafter I was admitted to a local psych hospital and pumped full of Haldol and suddenly I was all better. I was back to work shortly like nothing had ever happened.
I became manic because I had not taken any medication in almost a year. I have taken my medication like clock work ever since and have been stable for 2 1/2 years. (diagnosed for 3 1/2) I have learned the hard way that taking medication is a must. Hopefully, I will never hear sirens or airplanes again.

hi. i am new to this board and have read alot that I can relate to. I have heard what seemed to be sirens and like bombs or torpedos that sounded like they were being dropped. I was going through post partum depression at the time and had just spent over 24 hours awake from a panic attack that lasted all night where i was sure i was going to die if i went to sleep. I told my psychiatrist all about these things and others more and they never mentioned anything about schizophrenia. I wanted to be diagnosed as such, but never was. I guess now i should be happy about that though. So i really don't think schizophrenics are the only ones that go thru such things. Tho seems to be on a temporary basis.
