:bouncing: I'm still finding my way around these boards. Is Harry a doctor? I see his name attached to a lot with some helpful advice.

Mila,
I don't use many herbal remedies primarily because they are not well controlled. Every manufacturer put out a different amount in their products & different parts of the herb-- so it is not easy to get the same results with so many manufacturers.

There are some good Herbal Medicine books available if you are interested.

Cayanne pepper is used to help digestion and circulation but does not help constipation.

Cayanne pepper is also used in an ointment for arthritis joint pain. My wife even uses it on her knees.

Constipation is helped by intaking 25 to 35 grams of fiber daily. It needs to be a combination of both soluble and insoluble fiber. All meats, seafood and all dairy products contain NO fiber.
Insoluble fiber causes your intestinal muscles to contract --- moving food---through your intestines and soluble fiber absorbs fluid bulking up your stool.

Insoluble fiber is contained in all fruit and veggies, nuts & seeds and the brans in all cereals.
Soluble fiber is the inner part of grains-- rice, oats, corn, barley and wheat. The inner part of beans & peas-- the outside is insoluble. The root veggie like potatoes, carrots, beets, & turnips are all soluble. And the water soluble fiber supplements -- like Metamucil that contains psyllium seed husk, Citrucel, Benefiber and Fiber Choice.

Probably more than you wanted to know!!

Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water daily and get some exercise.
