OK, I just read in my irregular cycle thread that metformin thickens the uterin lining??? Just to be sure we're talking about the same drug here...this is the drug I'm on for my type 2 diabetes....500mg. Is this the same drug that helps with the blood supply in the uterus?
I'm wondering if this could have actually worked negatively for me...I've had such continuous and severe bleeding, and since reading that post, I've figured it to have started around the time that I started taking 500mg metformin twice daily....I am taking this because of the diabetes, NOT to aid with fertility. As far as I know my uterine lining was fine prior to my diabetes.

Any insight or infor anyone has would be great, so I can bring that to my doctor and find out if the metformin is actually causing my excess bleeding!

Thanks in advance!

Love luck and babydust all around!!

I haven't been by in a few weeks. I'll have to look for that thread. I've been using met since last fall. I never came across anything about met and bleeding. It can improve your O because it will lessen male androgens in the ovaries.

Probably not any help. I'll have to pay attention I guess.

Ok...There is Metformin. and there is Metafin (sp) Two different meds. I think that there might be some confusion...? Because I don't think that the Metformin for diabetes is the same as the other (Metafin?). I know Men that are on Metformin for diabetes, and they wouldn't be on if it was hormone altering??
Now I'm confuzeled LOL

Time for more research I think. lol

 Hi there all!
I too am very confused about all these medications.
Am interested to hear what others know about these.
Are metafin (?) and metformin the same thing?? Is there such a thing as metafin? am I calling it the wrong name??
I think I might ask my Gyno next time I go there.

Good luck to all and thank you for your support
