My Wifes And I Sexual Habits Have Dwindled Down To Once Every 4 Months And Even Then She Treats It As A Task. In The First Year Of Course We Bounced Like Rabbits And Then It Slowly Started To Fade From 3 Times A Day To 3 Times A Week To 3 Times A Month And I Am Afraid To Go To 3times A Year I Am Certianly Not Used To This But If It Is A Side Effect Of Bpd I Can Deal With It. But Were Talking About Alot Of Me Time Tht I Already Don't Like To Spend

Yes, it does, I am sorry to say. I don't really enjoy having sex very often except when I'm hypomanic which isn't all that often. The meds can cause A decrease in desire too. Is she stabilized on her meds? I'm hoping when I'm stabilized on my meds I will have more desire. I feel very guilty about it and it's frustrating for my husband too. Good luck to you and your wife.

Yes it very well could be due to her BP, or her meds.
Usually when a person is in their "mania" stage, they will have a higher sex drive. So I guess it pretty much depends on what mood she's in.
I would hang in there, and see what happens. :wave:

When I'm depressed, it's the last thing I want to do. When I'm manic, it's the only thing I want to do. You're not alone...my boyfriend is also confused and suffering.

My Boyfriend has been supportive. But when I start cycling I want nothing to do with him, I actually had to ask for no days (meaning he makes no advances at all) as it makes me feel gulity to keep saying no to him. Good Luck but remeber this is hard for her too. I miss my drive and would love to have it back.

Some meds cause sexual side effects- a decrease. Depression can also cause a decrease in libido while hypomania causes an increase. It is just a toss up. I'm sorry that it is so confusing and frustrating for you. It really is upsetting for my DH at times too when I'm cycling or in a depression.
The only med I am aware of that does not cause any sexual side effects is Wellbutrin XL. Just an FYI. It is an anti-depressant.
