 I'm extremely frustrated. Here's my story: I've been having lower left abdominal pain for about a month now. I have no uterus and no ovaries etc; all were removed 10 years ago. For the past 10 years, I've had really no issues -- until a month ago. I suddenly started having cramping throughout my abdomen, mainly on the left side, and the lower left started hurting constantly. The pain started radiating up to my chest and around my back. I went to Urgent Care a little over a week ago. As soon as I mentioned that pain was radiating to my chest, the doctor refused to see me and said that I needed to go straight over to the Emergency Room -- that it sounded like I had an ishium (sp). I asked her how abdominal pain would correspond to a heart-related issue; she said something about the heart resting on something or other that would in fact affect the abdomen. Ok, she kind of scared me. So, I went to the Emergency Room. They did an EKG and a few X-rays. They also drew blood and took urine. Everything, according to the doctor, was normal, and there was nothing of "an emergent nature", so he released me and told me to see my primary doctor. Now, I want to point out that the doctor there at ER did press on my abdomen; when he pressed on "the spot", I came off the table and let him know it hurt real bad. He still saw nothing that was worthy of an ER visit. Anyway, I made an appointment with my primary doctor; that appointment was a week ago. He completely blew me off! He reminded himself from my chart that I have no female organs and told me, decidedly, that the only thing I have is intestine, so it must be IBS. Aaarrrrrgh!!!! I told him I have no constipation and none of the other stuff, but he said it's all it could be. "If", he said, "it still hurts in a week, call my office and we'll set you up with a GI specialist". Cool. That's all I needed. Wait a week? No. I called the next day and got a referral for a CONSULTATION only, which will be with the PA. Whatever. I called for the appointment, and they can't see me for another two weeks! I cried. After that, I went back to Urgent Care and was careful to say nothing of chest pain. I do want to point out, though, that this pain awoke me for the first time last night. Until then, the pain had not really bothered me at night. Additionally, I had blood (not bright red, but not black either) in my stool this morning. So, while at Urgent Care this evening, I mentioned these things and told of my pain and loss of appetite etc. The doctor said he narrows it down to Diverticulosis or Gall Bladder Disease. He also mentioned Lyomas as a possibility (although he said this was doubtful. I can find nothing about what this even is). What do you think? Diverticulosis or Gall Bladder? Anyone here ever dealt with either? Thanks for letting me vent; I appreciate it! Any help/suggestions would be appreciated too! BTW, the doctor from this evening gave me an order to have some blood work done. He also prescribed some antibiotics to guard against infection in case it is diverticulosis gone diverticulitis.
