I dont know all who hangs out here, if most of you are for or against alturnative treatment hopefully everyone looks at this board lol..
On the weekend i was at an expo and i saw an iridologist, she was giving free mini consultations and in the short time that i saw her she told me i have pain the stomache area and mentioned my gallbladder.. i have gallstones and crohns disease (in remission) here is my problem...
I am on the waiting list to have my gallbladder removed, she said she can fix my gallbladder without surgery but that it can be a slow process. she said in her opinion, she would not recomend the surgery b'cos you need your gallbladder later in life. trouble is, if i try her herby stuff, i would possibly have to take myself off the waiting list for surgery as that is suppose to be comming up soon and id have to be prepared to give her method a little time to work.. if i go off the waiting list and it doesnt work, then i have to start back at sqaure one to get back on it...
i feel conflicted, id like to keep my body parts if possible, but at the same time, im starting to feel really defeated, having stomache pains almost every day, its getting me down... what would you do??

nikki2006,
I'd go for the surgery. I have lots of friends who have had their gall bladders out and who are living a much happier life without all the pain and problems that their gall bladders gave them.
Of COURSE!!! this woman wants you to try her herbal remedies. Isn't it wonderful that she told you that you'd have to spend a loooong time spending money with her -- you won't see any advantages and she will be lots richer.
If you've already been waiting for a long time on a waiting list for an operation, then get it done at the earliest oportunity, rather than throw money at this woman and then have to wait a loooong time to move up the waiting list again for an operation.
Really and truly. Have the operation.

Nikki2006,
I am very much all for alternative treatment. I practice it myself as well as use it as first choice. I have had many illnesses and healed myself over a very long time using alternative therapies and yes it is expensive but today - I am totally medication free. I have asthma, diabetes, a heart condition and so on....
It maybe a personal choice but alternative treatments do work in a much healthier way. If you are not educated in knowing the basic's of alternative care then you can be taken big time because it is costly.
What she told you does NOT make sense. You can research gall bladder and find all the answers for yourself. There are many quacks out there pushing alternative ways just as much as there are quack's as conventional doctors.
Stick to the waiting list to have your surgery. You will be much safer that way.
Good Luck!

Why wouldn't you try to heal yourself naturally first - many things can go wrong in surgery - why wouldn't you see if you could fix it naturally first before getting cut open!! My 20 year old nephew has had crohn's since he was 13 and wonderful traditional medicine has cut out part of his colon - had him with a colostomy bag for 6 months and he still is no better off! They also tried to remove his gallbladder - which I am so thankful he refused (you will need all of your parts in life that is why they were given to you) He was not any better after all of this. The only thing that is helping him is a complete diet change - no gluten and many other restrictions - this is near impossible for a young guy -gluten is in everything fast food! If he follows it though - he does much better - it is just rough to keep on track. I imagine as he grows up he will realize that this is a managed disease and you just have to change the way you eat all the time! I would definitely try a natural approach - maybe not with her person that you saw - do alot of investigating into it - there is $$$ to be spent but wouldn't it be worth it if you were better and didn't have to risk surgery. Best of luck whatever you decide to do!!!

If you are not in terrible pain and can just as easily wait until after you try the alternative treatment, why not wait?
I had my gallbladder removed and I agree with the iridologist who told you problems can arise. We do need all of our organs, as long as they are healthy. There are ways to remove gallstones. I, unfortunately, could not go this route because I had one large stone the size of an egg, so they told me, and was in acute pain. Had the stones been smaller I would have definitely tried to remove them first before opting for surgery.
Removing an organ creates an imbalance in our organ system. If you are interested in this read some literature on acupuncture and The Five Element Theory.
All the best with whatever you decide
There is a rainforest plant called Chanca Piedra. It means stone breaker. Most health stores have it or can order it. A bottle of capsules costs same as a multivitamin- about $22.00. This gallstone / kidney stone remedy is well researched in human clinical trials which showed it to work within 2 weeks by breaking gall and kidney stones up into tiny fragments that expel from your body without any pain at all.
Hopefully your surgery is not coming up before two weeks and you have the time to try chanca piedra.
Good luck with your decision. I know it is hard.

I was curious whether people in this thread who think she should get the surgery, have the feeling that most iridologists are quacks? Or just the the specific iridologist mentioned in this thread?

Concerned Male,
I cannot understand how anyone can diagnose what's going on in the body by looking at flecks in the iris. I've been trying not to use loaded words like "quack" in my posts, but since you ask....
