Help me understand the ovulation process.
I understand ovulation starts 14 days after the first day of your last period. But happens after the 14th day?
I know this may sound silly but I really don't know.

Say your cycle is regular (28 days). You will ovulate on the 14th day which is 1/2 way between your cycle. If your not regular you can ovulate on days 14, 15 16 etc....the bottom line is that exactly 14 days AFTER you ovulate you will most usually get your period. So it's not necessarily the fact that you will ovulate on day 14 as much as you will get your period 14 days AFTER you have ovulated. Hope I have explained it okay.
I am irregular and when I ovulate (I feel pain and get the egg white discharge afterwards) around days 17 -21. Then on the day I ovulate I count backwards FROM 14 and sure enough my period comes.
You ask "what happens". Well some women actually get cramping, pain and discharge when they ovulate. Some don't.
Maybe you can do a google on ovulation and get some more info.
Hope I have helped.
