What about Pamprin? I am looking for something to help with cramps and fatigue. I also get in very depressive periods during this time - this time it coincided with a couple of bad events in my life, and I got to the point where I was having thoughts of suicide. I am slowly starting to get out of it, but that was kind of a scary time. I have said before that I do sometimes skip periods, and my cycle is pretty irregular. I think that may play into the moodswings and such, making them worse. I'm mainly looking for something that will help with the fatigue, headaches, cramps, and irritability. I know a cure for the moodswings is asking too much, but maybe getting rid of the other symptoms will alleviate some of it. I have also heard of people taking Prozac or Serafem two weeks out of the month, but I hate to get into prescription drugs... Is the OTC stuff helpful at all?

The OTC(midol and pamprin) are usually a non-prescription pain reliever and caffeine, maybe a mild direutic. They will help some with cramps and headaches, but seriously I think you should consult with your Dr. because you probably need more help than that. Best of luck.

I've experienced the whole nine yards, as well....and still am.
I started out taking VIOXX which was known as an arthritis medicine but was taken off of the market about 3 years into my taking it because it was causing strokes.
I think, and am not positive, that they've been working on the product and are coming out with a new one? Maybe you should look into that.....
Anyways, after it went off of the market, my doctor recommended Aleve.
At first, I thought she was crazy because I'd taken Tylenol and Advil and Midol and Pamprin to no avail....but, it helps a lot.
My only concern for you is that your period is irregular. I'd recommend trying to keep track of it, no matter how irregular. Write it down, how many days it lasts, and how many days it was in between---maybe you'll notice some sort of pattern?
I've had HORRIBLE periods since I was 10 (19, now) from throwing up constantly the first 2 days, cramps out of the world, weakness, migraines, mood swings---you name it, I've had it. So, I take Aleve everyday for the 3 days before my period and on the 1st and 2nd day of my period as I need it.
It helps with the nauseous and slightens the cramps.
I also use those portable heating pads on my lower abdomin and that helps a lot. (About $6.99---make sure it's for your menstraul cycle)
I know this is getting long, but I wanted to let you know EVERYTHING possible that can help you....
I think eating healthier helps a lot as well......lessen your intake of caffeine around that time, try and drink a lot of water, and I'd recommend drinking chammomile tea a couple days before your period is due as well.
I've also noticed that being active, taking a walk or just going out---go shopping, even, really helps.
I know the last thing you want to do is get up and move that time of the month, but it helps.
I promise.
Good luck!
