I have a monthly that only spots, and i mean like once or twice in an hour and thats it. Been going on for the past 4ish weeks... and no period before that since january. I'm not preg - or so the test says, but my mothers side the women have false negative pregnancies.

My question is, my friend said i might need hormones?? because i really dont know how you can concieve without a period, or even if im having a period as i dont really even see any blood. Ive talked to my dr about this and she just wants to throw me on BC and i dont want that ! What do i do?

Hi!
I have the opposite of your problem...I don't STOP bleeding for mor than a few days here and there...Docs are putting it down to my diabetes and being overweight...
There are other methods than birth control! If you don't want to go on it then DON'T!!! Don't let them push you into it. I let the docs do that to me a few times over the last 16 years and they are at least part of the reason for my obesity. With each time I went on a BCP, I gained at LEAST 30 lbs each time!!! And I never changed my eating habits other than to eat Healthier!
As to your question about concieving without a period. yes. It's not the period that matters most, it is if you Ovulate or not.
I know personally that I was 3 months pregnant before home tests showed I was pregnant with my first. Blood tests showed slightly elevated HCG (Pregnancy hormone), and the ultrasound affirmed I was pregnant 12.5 weeks when I went in. Doc's didn't understand, but she was there!
There are lots of reasons many I don't know as to why you're not menstrating "properly", or if you're ovulating or not.

Many things are possible when it comes to the female reproductive system!! Just look at all the problems so many of us have in conceiving, many of us, for no real reason.

If you're ttc, then perhaps hormone therapy is neccessary, yes. And lots of tests to see if you're ovulating or not, if you've got a problem with your uterus or cervix or many number of other things.

Sorry for being so long winded...lol

I know it's probably not anything you're looking to hear, but at least it's a little bit of information for you to start, and I'm sure the ladies here will be posting what I missed or overlooked!

If you post again with more information, (if you are ttc or not..etc) then we might be able to help you more!
Good luck!
-Jenna :)

Hi I'm new to the board and happy to hear that not having your period does not mean that you can not conceive as that has been a big concern of mine. I went on birth control when I was about 16 for the sole reason of regulating my period because I only got it about once every 6 months. It sort of worked I guess but it was usually so light I never had to use ANYTHING. I then developed an eating disorder in my early 20's for about 5 years and my weight dropped to 82lbs and my periods stoped all together. I had always thought as I got healthy again they would return but they haven't and I have been recovered for about 3yrs now. I am getting married in October and we plan to start trying right away and my concern is that maybe I caused damage to my body due to the eating disorder??? Or that because I never get my period this means something is wrong and I won't be able to get pregnant? I was wondering if maybe I should go off the pill now and give my body a bit of a breather before the wedding and see if I get my period?? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you

yeah i had an eating disorder too for most my life, though these last 2 years i have been struggling but eating properly. I also might have a tipped uterous as most my pain is centered on my spine whenever i cramp from AF but my dr has never mentioned anything about it. And health is another factor.... so all in all its just a tough cookie to handle.

How do i find my ovulation day when i dont even have a period.. my last AF was in january  , had nothing until i started TTC and then been spotting occasionally since then.
