I just read an article that said taking Atenolol (high blood pressure med) can raise your BS numbers. Has anyone else had or heard of this. I take 50 mg in the morning and have noticed my readings are a bit high lately and I can not get them to come down. Any reply appreciated. I will talk to DR next time I go tho......

I don't know if it will raise your blood sugar, but I was taking 25 mg atenolol and when I was diagnosed with diabetes, my doctor put me on Altace instead because it gives better protection for the kidneys. The ACE inhibitor did lower my blood pressure quite a bit to 115/68. This is important for diabetics and the doctor said the medical community is thinking that a systolic pressure of 110 is the goal.
