View Full Version : changes due to meds?

I was just wondering if anybody has noticed a change in the color of your urine after being on the medications. I am on hydrocortisone and florinef and have noticed that the color is a real deep yellow. I had not noticed it before, I started on florinef about 3-3 1/2 weeks ago and just started noticing it within the last week. Is this normal or does it have to do with how much liquid I am consuming? Should I be increasing my intake of liquids? I'm not a big water drinker to begin with. Thanks for your help.

Now that you have addisons you will have to become a "big" water drinker to keep yourself hydrated. Urine shouldn't be deep yellow.

I drink allot of water all day long & carry it with me where ever I go. I didn't drink allot before addisons either & it seemed a bother at first, but not a problem now. It is dangerous for us to get dehyrated. Also important to keep things like the bladder flushed out. I have a friend who got cancer in the bladder. He never drank water & I am sure that is why, although he doesn't agree.

Take care,
Wanda

i have had addisons since i was 12 and my urine has always been darker unless i drank extra water. i think its because of the cortisone , as it is such a strong drug.. do u have really dark elbows and knuckles?

No, I haven't noticed dark elbows or knuckles. I did try increasing my water intake over the weekend and it seemed to help. I just have to get in the habit of drinking more water I guess.

kjos, Our urine is not darkened by cortisol, but from not drinking enough water. If the elbows & knuckles are dark you might need a bit more replacement.

Water plus salt is very important to us. Of course the doctors don't tell us the important things that will help us feel better.

Take care,
Wanda :)
