first let me just say that i do not know if i am peri or not. my periods are still normal. I have had left sided pain off and on(mostly on) for the last 3 weeks or so. I thought i was ovulating but it continued. I had an internal less than 2 months ago that was unremarkable. Also, I have the feeling of rectal fullnbess around the time of my period. Occasionally when I have a BM (sorry gross) i get pains in my stomach like it is moving down......do any of you have these types of symptoms? I am also rather gassy around my period. Thanks for the help ladies! (OH AND i AM 40)

Hi Kerri,
You just described what I was feeling last fall. I started with a pain in my right side at ovulation that last for 3 months. I finally gave up and saw my dr, had a CAT scan and U/S. Showed a cyst on my left ovary. I had that awful rectal fullness and discomfort too. The pain subsided on the right and moved to the left! I am still fighting that discomfort off and on. Went on BCP's to try to help the cysts and heavy periods. The rectal pain is much better, but it took months. I guess I would check with your dr, even at 40 you sure could having some peri symptoms. Good luck, Ann

thanks ann! It is not debilitating or anything, just annoying you know? I am just curious about getting "older"...lol-the menstral cramps have changed as well,. This month I have been getting like a little "wave" very low in my middle abdomen. I guess I just have to get used to this. any advice?

Kerri,
I feel like the cramps I get are different than before I started this peri ride. They are lower and stronger when my period first starts. I also can get milder cramps all during the month. That's in addition to the ovary pain off and on. What fun! I know my ovaries are changing in size, I figure my uterus is changing also and maybe that is some of the lower cramping. Pretty common for women at this time to develope uterine fibroids too. Like some other women have said, our best friend every night after work is our heating pads! It always makes alot of the aches go away. Take care, Ann
