I found that when i was manic, i felt really confident and i guess you could say happy. I didnt have feelingss of anxiety tho, but i think that can be a sympton. You just feel like you're on this high and you forget all your problems and you have so much self confidence and you think you can do anything. But then you get the not so good symptons where you cant sleep and your head is overflowing with thoughts and you have all these crazy ideas. I look back on my experience and get embarrased sometimes about what i used to go on about.
I was also diagnosed with generalised anxiety disorder when i was depressed about 5-6 months before having my first manic episode. I think my dr just diagnosed me that because she didnt know what was wrong with me. I have always suffered from anxiety tho, all my life really.
If you were thinking that you were experiencing mania, i woudn't worry because i dont think you are. I think your just suffering from your anxiety disorder like you said you have.
If you are still worried theres a thread on here by the mods about the symptons of mania if you want to check that out.
I hope this helped.
Take care.

hi, i guess manic episodes are different for everyone but with me i feel like i can take on the world and that no one can hurt me, i often feel quite arrogant and aggressive with it like i'll lash out at anyone who gets in my way or annoys me. all i want to do is spend money, drink and have sex so i guess its quite a self destructive happiness, if you can call it that. my mind races, my heart thumps and i get constantly adrenalin rushes. some of this can cause me to feel a bit anxious. i certainly become very self centred and its more of a drive than anything else, i wouldnt compare it to true happiness

Mania includes euphoria, anxiousness, anger, and irritability. I guess these are all "up" moods.

I never knew that mania could include anger too or irritability, that will be something I'll bear in mind from now on when I feel like im in a rage about nothing
