View Full Version : Weird Episode yesterday

I was wondering if anyone could offer any insight. I had what felt like a panic attack (I used to get them, but haven't in a long while). But this one was different in that my hands were shaking (I was shaking in my core) uncontrollable and I felt like I was kinda in a dream state...I thought for sure I was going to pass out. My heart was pounding.
Well, I hadn't ate in about 4-5 hours and when I had an orange I felt better. ( I swear, I was so thankful I had one in my purse and I ripped into it so fast!) So when I got home I had a sandwich and apple juice and felt a lot better. But I think I was spooked because I felt weird all day from it...but I'm not sure if that was all in my head. Anyone experienced this?
I usually try to eat small frequent meals to keep even blood sugar levels...but that's just because I heard it's good to do. So I thought it had something to do with not eating for so long...especially when I felt somewhat better after eating the orange.
I'm worried that I might be having blood sugar problems. Anyone help me with advice? I don't want to feel that again. It was scary.

Hello
If you are diabetic you could have been entering Hypoglycemia. If it was a bad low around 20 or lower you may have been on the verge of and insulin seizure. That would explain the passing out feeling and the episodic functions you mentioned. If you are not diabetic, I have no Idea what you were going through.

But I'm not a diabetic! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif
I'm worried that it will happen again! I went to the Doctor today and she is doing some blood work.

Mae,
Don't worry yourself until you find out what the doctor says. You may be worrying about nothing. Let us know what the doctor finds out.

Mae...are they testing you for sugar problems? I ask because I had some episodes similar to what you discribed. I was tested for everything under the sun and finally was diagnosed as hypogylcemic (pre-diabetic). Now I watch everything I eat...count carb's and avoid all sugars if I can. I have noticed a huge difference in those spells I was once having. They don't happen as frequently and when they do it is not as bad as long as I get something to eat fast. Keep us updated about your test results.

Take care! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

I got my blood tests back yesterday from last week. My Doctor said that my blood sugar is technically normal, but that I am on the fence for hypoglycemia. But the biggest thing was that my thyroid was way off. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidsim a few years ago and as it turned out I need a raise in my meds for it.
Well, I haven't had that episode before or since. So let's hope it doesn't happen again.
