Hello everyone. I am new to this board and looking forward to hearing from you guys.

My little sister who is 8 fainted in church while in school a few months ago. It was very quick and did not lose conciousness. My mom took her to the doctor where she checked out ok, and they didn't think much of it.

Now earlier this week she had the same thing happen only here at home while my mom was doing her hair before school. Once again it was real quick and no other symptoms. Obviously my sister was scared, but she had no headaches, or anything. Both times she didn't go to school and did just fine the rest of the day.

Well my mom took her to the doctors again after this recent episode where they did bloodwork and a CT scan. The bloodwork came back normal and the CT scan showed a few small calcium deposits. They also said she might have history of toxisomosis or somethingl iek that. She has to see the Neurologist the second week on June. Next week she gets an EKG and holter monitor just to get every test out of the way so they can try to figure something out. My mom and sister are obviously quite worried as am I. But she doesn't have any other symptoms, only the fact that she is just fainted/passed out twice over the last 6 months. I guess I don't know what to think. I would have thought if the guy who read the CT Scan and the doctor were concerned with her situation they would have kept her in the hospital or gotten her a much sooner appointment. I have tried searching on the net for stuff, but haven't gotten much information. Anyone care to shed some light on this situation?

Thanks!

It might be a good idea to try and find a pattern of when she passed out. Was she standing, sitting? Was it hot or cold (to her)? Was there any over exertion (to her)?

No other symptoms? Like she never got hot or cold before, after or during the fainting? No light headedness? Dizziness? De'javy feelings? Body or head sensations? Heart palps? Breathing difficulties?

You say she didnt lose conscienceness. So what exactly happens when she fains?

I can't shed much light, and I apologize.

Hey thanks for the response. The first time she fainted I believe she was kneeling in church and got up and then fainted..so I think she was kneeling, then stood up quickly. The second time she was sitting on the toilet getting her hair done and then got up, went to the downstairs bathroom, and sat on the toilet and fainted (it was kinda weird). I think she may have been a little warm before and after both times. I know the church can get quite warm. Other than that she maybe felt a little littleheaded but that would be about all and perhaps a little diziness the first time. When she faints she just like tips over and is with it right away and and starts crying because she gets scared. But as she calms down, the rest of the day is good for her unless she thinks about it and then she kinda of "doesnt feel good" and just worries about it, but like I said she is in good spirits, feels good for most of the day.

Now that I think of it she was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat when she was born, but I thought they fix that right away, or did.

I guess we wouldn't be so worried if it wasn't for her abnormal CT scan with the small calcium deposits and I think my mom probably thinks its a tumor. And I guess I kinda do too, and I search for calcium deposits and it shows it can be alot of things. Overall it just seems weird. No signs of anything else just two fainting spells. Like I said her bloodwork came back normal. The CT scan came back abnormal but the family doctor thought the person reading the CT scan was looking at it way too deep. I guess the only thing we got going is that you would think if they thought it was something serious they would give her limitations on what she could do or just keep her in the hospiatal and do more tests right away. I don't know, it just sucks worrying :(

I can understand your worry, I can't say that it is unecessary. I still do though, believe it is syncope. Especially considering she has had fainting spells because she stands up too fast after sitting too long.

I don't know much about calcium deposits on the brain, but these fainting spells may be in result of something completely different.

If you can, get a second opinion on the CT scan. As well, talk to her primary care doctor about her symptoms and the questions I asked you before.

Good luck to you and your sister.
