Was wondering if anyone uses soy milk? Doctor just informed me that I have Diabetes. Always drank soy milk or used it in Pancakes or smoothies. Now I don't know if I can include it anymore? Used it since it was
cholesterol free alternative instead of cheese. See that they add evaporated cane juice to the milk. Guess thats where they get the sweetness from.

You have to look at the amount of carbohydrates in anything you east or drink. The soy milk that I have seen lists about the same amount of carbs as regular milk. You need to check the label on the brand you are buying. The sweetness in regular milk come from lactose, a naturally occuring sugar in the milk.

jody ~~~ The soy milk I am using has 9 grams, lowfat milk has 13 grams so it is alright. Just worried about the evaporated cane juice in the soy milk. Sugar in milk 13 grams, Soy milk 8 grams. Been using Green wise from Publix supermarket. Looks like all the rest of them add cane juice too. Have you noticed if yours has it added too?

I recently switched from Edensoy original soymilk to Edensoy unsweetened. It doesn't taste quite as good, but I am getting used to it.

Sueanne,

I use soy milk and the only issue I watch for is calories. I try to get a brand and type that has around 80 calories per 8 oz. serving. Less is better.
