A while back, I read a magazine column about a new brand of medication. I don't remember what it was called, but the article described that it just "motivated" you- it made you feel like you could take anything, it made you productive. Does anyone know what I am talking about?

I'm asking because I suffer from chronic mild depression (dysthymia) and maybe it would help?? Also, when I had done a google search on the medication, it had been shown in trials to help with another condition I have (Cerebral Palsy). I would like to ask my doctor about it.

there are so many antidepressents on the marketplace and all of them say anything to sell their product. Unfortunately all of the antidepressents will act differently to different people. Good luck in your search

trg247 is right. I think its funny how that medication claims that it would "motivate you..." It sounds like it pushes you into a manic episode...

I wish I could be optimistic about these medications, but they are all the same...I swear psychs just give us placebos.

I don't agree because the column was written by a writer for the magazine who tried it, it wasn't an ad. So, I'm sure that meds are mainly useless but this one in particular seemed worth a try.

Hi,

For your sake and for the sake of all of us I wish the drug you are talking about could motivate us in a healthy way. Being realistic, I just don't think it can do all it claims. If it could we would all be on it and it would sell for hundreds of dollars, which I would glady pay if there was a magic pill to over ride depression.

It won't hurt anything to research it but don't set youself up for a huge disappointment.

Best Wishes,
Whisper

Thanks- I don't think it was either of the two mentioned, unless they go by different names. Those don't ring a bell.

Whisper- thanks for the warning. I am only mildly depressed, so I don't really need medication, mainly my problem is motivation, so if something could help that I'd be all set. I don't believe it till I see it though.
