Ill be talking to my doctor about this June 26th. I am a newby at all this baby buisness so bare with me!!!
But i take several medications. thyroid medications, meds for epilepsy and migrains, depression meds, anti pscyhotics, etc etc etc.
My question is should i wean myself off NOW??? before i become preg/TTC knowing that they are bad for the baby.
And is it okay to take my hypothryoid meds during pregnancy or is that also bad for the baby?
I dont have and OB right now. Should i go ahead and get one BEFORE i get pregnant, maybe they can help me out?? Is that normal and ok?? I have one in mind. Its a guy though...thats a little weird for me, but im willing to try it. Can he answer my medication questions as i dont trust my GP all that much even though she (gp) is my Gyn.
Thanks in advance.

You really should talk to your Dr about weaning yourself off medications. None of us are qualified to give medical advice!! In addition, the Dr who prescribed the medications might be a good person to speak to because more than likely that Dr is more of an expert on the medication than an OB -- an OB might make a blanket statement that NO medication is safe, when in actuality, there might be an alternative medication that they could switch you to that is safe for TTC and pregnancy.
You can start talking to OBs now. I have read that it is a good idea to interview OBs to make sure that you respect their opinions.
Good luck!
