Anyone else experience this? Obviously immediately following surgery I had some constipation. Had a BM on day 4, then had a day of "D", then a few days of soft stools. Now I'm back to constipation again. When the diarrhea started I started drinking an Ensure Fiber every day and tried to have oatmeal, triscuits and other fiberous items. No supplements or anything though. I've had several fatty, fast food meals and still have the constipation. Any thoughts? Is it just still so soon after surgery (I'm on day 11) that my system is still working things out? I've heard plenty about the diarrhea following this procedure but the constipation doesn't seem to be very common. Also, I've had some anxiety through this whole ordeal and usually take a Xanax when/if I wake in the middle of the night to help me go back to sleep. I've read one of the side effects can be constipation but I typically only take one .5 mg dose a day and sometimes not even that...could that small a dose have an effect?
I have my post-op appt on Thursday and will definitely find out then what the doctor thinks but I was just curious if anyone else has had a similar experience. Otherwise I feel GREAT since surgery, my nausea is gone except for the occassional wave here and there and I have been able to tolerate any foods I've tried.
Oh, and I've been off pain meds since day 2, so it's not that.
Thanks!

Its probably just a result of your surgery and will most likely clear up soon. But it might still be a good idea to get your doctor to look at it.
Also can you answer a question for me? When you had your gallbladder, was the pain like to the right of your belly button or beneath your ribcage like under the 3rd rib? Thanks

I was a bit atypical in that I didn't have much pain, my symptoms were mainly nausea and diarrhea.

Mine was beneath the ribcage...typical for gallstones.
