hi there and thanks again. My son is not overwieght at all. He is quite thin actually. I am taking him in again this morning as last night all through the night he sweated so much it soaked his shirt. Is this a normal thing.? Everytime he eats something his face and ears goes red and he doesnt feel well. His legs hurt and he has absolutely no energy. His body is going through a lot and it is very noticable. HE seems to have somewhat normal levels or low in the morning but as soon as he eats something within twenty minutes it jumps about ten points or so. I have been watching what he eats but it still doesnt seem to matter. He is so angry with me because he isnt allowed sweets. He is sneaking food when i am not looking. IT is very frustrating and sad because he feels so horrible when he eats them. So up to the clinic once again this morning to see what else can be done here. WE live in british columbia about two hours west of prince george. I live in a town of 1500 people and the doctors here , well that is another story..It is all just so frustrating . IF he wasnt feeling and looking so ill I probably wouldnt worry as much . But it is cleary noticable he is not well and can not go to school until we get this settled. I will ask about the addtional tests this morning and thank you so much for all the help..take care

Hi
Does your son have any breath that smells like fruit flavored Certs? Your description indicates that he has Acetone in his system. If he is developing acetone he needs to see a doctor specifically for this item. No matter how bad his breath is the fruity smell will come through. If it is there please get him taken to a doctor ASAP. This leads to Diabetic keto Acidosis. This is the same symptoms I felt when I was 8 before I went into a coma. I hope I am very wrong.

I totally agree with Don that he sounds very sick. Knowing what I know now.. I would take him to the emergency room and talk to a MiniMed representative about getting a 24 hour sensor while he is in the hospital. It will take his blood sugar every couple of minutes for 24 hours. Then they will know what is happening throughout the day. No matter what you decide on tests, I would definitely get him in soon. Good luck

Hi Sharebear,
Your location must put you somewhere around Terrace? I can appreciate that healthcare there is less than ideal. However, the fact that your son has been given an OGTT is encouraging. Everything you have reported (especially the fact he is thin) suggests Type 1 diabetes. I would suggest getting to a hospital for evaluation as to the need for insulin. The sooner he is treated the better.
