I am having my gallbladder removed on Thursday. My docter and myself believe the pain I have been suffering is caused by my gallbladder. The problem has been, I have had ultra sounds and the HIDA scan and all have come back perfectly normal. I did test positive for H. Pylori a few weeks back and was on meds for 2 weeks, but I had an attack 2 days ago and my physician believs the next step is to remove the gallbladder. My question is, has anyone had all the symptoms of gall stones but the tests showed it was normal? And if so, did you have your gall bladder our and did it help?
Gall bladder disease does run in my family, but since I passed all the tests I am just concerned if this surgery will help or not.

I'm new to the boards, and read your posting. I was just wondering, did you end up having your gall bladder removed? If you did have the surgery, did they find stones/disease even after your tests were all normal? I am going thru the same thing. My u/s was negative, my HIDA scan was negative, and yet I am having these almost unbearable attacks of pain that radiate thru to my back. I am just interested to see if you DID have stones/disease even though the tests were normal. Thank you.

Sorry for the delay on a response. I did go ahead and have my gallbladder out on 6/1/06. I get the pathology back tomorrow, but my doctor told me that in all his years as a surgeon he has never seen a gallbladder as big and inflammed as mine and that there was alot of scar tissue. He was tempted to open me up to remove the gall bladder but was able to remove it through lathroscopic.

You're lucky you had it out before it ruptured. Hope your recovery goes well.

I need to have my gallbladder taken out, I had a gallbladder attack last night. The pain is just unbearable. I've been suffering with it since 2003.

Wow it is really good to find out I am not going crazy! I have been having the same symptoms and had both the u/s and the HIDA scan come back normal. Yet still am in horrible pain. Dr. still really thinks it is my gall bladder so she is sending me for yet another test CT scan. Glad to hear yours turned out good. R all the pains and symptoms gone since having it removed??

I was having pain at least once a week, and general discomfort anytime I ate food with more than a little fat. I found that the best foods to eat were lean lunch meat sandwhichs with lots of veggies.
I got the pathology back last week and it came back as chronic gallbladder disease. I have been doing fine, except some complications with blood pressure. My blood pressure has always been around the 125/72 area. Well last week I was not feeling well, I had a horrible headache and my ankles were severely swollen. I went in and had my blood pressure checked and it was 188/116. They checked for clots, then put me on blood pressure and water pills temporarily. My ankles are not as swollen, and my blood pressure has consistently been around 160/100. Still high but better, the headaches are no better. I am more concerned about this.
As for the gallbladder, I am fantastic. My incisions are taking some time to heal, but that is because of my activity. I was back to work within 1 week of having the surgery. I worked out a week and half later lifting weights and running 3 miles. I can eat whatever I want with no pain, just have to worry whether I will get the runs later or not. Overall, I am very happy with having it out.
