Can anyone tell me the reason for this?

I am 17 and for roughly the past 6/7 months I have not been going to bed until around 1am / 2am and getting up at 7:30.
I just can't settle asleep until this in bed.

Can someone give me some information on how to help me?

Andantesash,

For some reason, teens are often deficient in melatonin, which is the helps promote regular sleep patterns. Research the supplement melatonin and check with your doctor to see if you can take 1 mg of melatonin, about 20 minutes before you would like to sleep. I began giving it to my 14 year old son last year when he complained that he couldn't go to sleep on time at night, and had to get up early in the AM. When left to his own schedule, he would sleep 12-15 hours at a stretch, but could not fall asleep in order to get 8! The melatonin has helped. Some bottles say not to give it to children under age 12, but the bottle I have now says not to use if under 18! But this bottle is 3mg (all I could find) and so I cut it in half.

Also, make sure you are not drinking sodas, coffee, or tea which contain caffeine. I drink a lot of caffeine every day, but if I drink it after about 6pm, I can't fall asleep!

Sleep well!
