I'm beginning to wonder who else has this problem at my age (which is 61) as I have never heard of anyone else.
I still, it seems, am having periods. Sometimes monthly but most often scant for a three week period and then a week off! Other times I can miss one month, even two and be fooled into thinking it will not come back only to have my hopes dashed. Occasionally they can be extremely heavy, not for much more than one or two days in duration but when it does happen the los is severe and seems to pump out of my body which can be difficult to contain, even with several of the largest pads. This is also associated with backache.
I've been down to theatre twice for a full investigation, camera biopsy, blood tests, scans etc... The last time just a year and 1/2 ago. Throughout the symptoms have not changed and have now persisted for 6 and 1/2 years.
My GP has done many blood tests, refered me twice, the only thing that has been found were 2 polyps, 1 fibroid which were removed but nothing changed. My GP ays I make too much oestrogen nd my blood levels show that although I'm going through the change it isn't yet complete. Has has tried me on several different hormones that all resulted in bad side effects, one out me in hospital because during the withdrawal bleed the pain and loss of blood was so severe.
Now at 61 I'm thinking will it ever stop! So fas I have resisted a hysterectomy, you can so often swap for other problems resulting from this operation not to mention something dreadful from dirty hospitals!
is there something more natural I can try to help myself? i don't know if it's relevant but I am often stressed and feel anxious. I'd appreciate any help or advice anyone can offer.
Many thanks

Maybe we are the only two on the planet? I am 60, still having very light but regular periods, 30-31 day cycle, up from 22-23 days several years ago. Started peri at age 45 with a year of very heavy crampy clotty irregular periods, then it slowly lightened up, now very light. Still get swollen ankles, weepy, out of control appetite a few days before each one. Have my FSH checked yearly, creeping up gradually but still below 30. Dr says this is late menopause, unusual but not abnormal. Do not have much trouble with other peri symptoms, but I am getting very tired of this already.

For me, it was when my periods started going the other way. For a long time they were heavy and long. Then they changed to lighter and missing about every 3 months or so. That only happened for about a year and then they ended. I went 1 1/2 years and then had one that seemed pretty normal and was afraid they had returned but they didn't. I haven't had any since and that was well over a year ago. I have to warn you ladies, even when the periods end, I still experienced meno problems and still do to some degree. Hot flashes/night sweats have been very difficult to get rid of. Simple changes seem to bring them back at times. I would atleast get on an OTC natural supplement if you can. Estroven worked for a little while for me. I have now found another supplement called Power Surge Active Women's Multi, and I add High Gamma Vit E (mixed Tocopherols) and green tea capsules. I try to stay away from hot drinks and I wear short sleeve shirts and shorts. Once you choose a path, stick with it. Change only brings the hot flashes back, even temporarily...atleast for me, it has. My biggest problem is that I have a TC cholersterol of 334 and need statin medication. Every time I try to take it, my hot flashes come back again. I think you can have them to different degrees :o and mine can be horrific! So, I am trying to lower my cholesterol naturally now. I hope it works!
