Have you been to a doctor for this? Since it occurs only once in a great while, you may have difficulty in seeing a doctor when it is occurring. Nevertheless, it's probably the best way to get an accurate diagnosis.

I remember when i was 14 i had a long bout of them for a couple of months, i went to the opticians and she said my eyes were perfect 20/20 vision, and that it happens due to the eye being stressed.
I think it is the same now, apart from that my eye didn't feel strange afterwards!!

Richard, it's hard to tell what causes a migraine. It can be food, stress, back or neck out of alignment, etc. There are drugs, like Imitrex, you can take at the first sign of an aura. I take regular painkillers as soon as I get the blind spot, ziggy lines and that wards off the headache.
Now then. My eyes are not normal for one week after an attack. I'm aware of this because I have no central vision and my scotomas (blind areas) are extra active for about a week.
When you have an aura, check very carefully to determine if it is indeed in one eye only. Sometimes it appears to be, but is actually in both eyes. This makes a difference because there are two kinds of migraine auras--the classical type which takes place in the brain and the ocular type which is less common and happens in one eye itself. Neither one is supposed to do any harm, but if you do have ocular migraines in your left eye only, the contraction/dilation of blood vessels and firing of nerves in that eye may have a residual effect. It should not be permanent though and your eye should be back to normal in a few days, I would say.
The term "ocular migraine" is misused and an ocular migraine is rarer than the other type. You might find some info on the Cleveland Eye Clinic website.

Thanks for the help, my eye feels fine again now.
I think it will happen again in the next couple of years, but as long as it's harmless apart from a headache then i am ok with it, thanks for the help,
Rjw.
