My 6 year old daughter has complained quite a few times this past month that she feels "weird" after eating. What she describes is dizziness.

She also says she is soooo thirsty and at times can't tell if she is just thirsty or just hungry. She is very active. She's not overweight, she weighs 49 lbs. What could it be?

Her dad has type 2 diabetes so I used his glucose meter to her blood glucose level today about 2 hours after breakfast and it was 79. Which I think is okay. Could she still be diabetic, hypoglycemic, anemic or something else. I'm going to take her to the doctor for his opinion, but I was just wondering if anyone else had some suggestions?

I would definitely get her blood sugars tested, especially with your history. This does need to be explored.

It sounds like she may be having some blood sugar episodes. I would have her checked just to be on the safe side.

Thank you for your replies. The doctor did some bloodwork on her & said everything was fine. He too thought it might be blood sugar related or possibly low iron/anemic. But her blood show she was fine. He said maybe she is eating right & her body is trying to let her know. She eats a lot of little meals, which I thought was good for you but I guess she's not eating enough at one time to satisfy her body. She's normal weight & a good healthy eater. Who knows!?!
