View Full Version : Homeopathy Question

I have been seeing a homeopathic doctor for probably about a year now and, from some of the information I've read on the Boards, I'm wondering if I should look for a new homeopath. I have had depression for many years and regular meds weren't working for me very well. So I started out on Pulsatilla, which didn't work, so then we tried Sulphur, which worked quite well. Now that has worn off so we are in the process of finding my next remedy.

My concerns, though, are that he has always had me take whatever remedy I'm on once or twice a day, depending on the remedy. For instance, right now I'm taking Sepia 12c once a day. It doesn't really seem to be doing too good for the depression, except I have noticed being a little bit shaky or hyper, like my heart racing and not able to get to sleep.

My other concern with my homeopath is that every time I call him to update him on how a particular remedy is working (by his request), it takes him almost a week to call me back. So the process is taking a very long time, all the while my depression symptoms are driving me crazy.

So I'm just looking for opinions because there are not very many true homeopaths in the city where I live. There are some naturopaths, but I think that's different, isn't it?

Thanks!

Naturopaths are different, I think. I have done a little bit of research looking for a good naturopath and one thing that impressed me was that they try to help a person's whole being - mind, body, and spirit - not just the outward symptoms. Do you have any idea what is causing the depression? They might be able to help you in dealing with the root cause instead of finding another temporary remedy.

Princesspixie:

From what I understand about homeopathy, the way it works is like peeling an onion. It cures a layer of whatever's wrong with you, then you will need a different remedy to cure the next layer, and so on. Eventually, though, it is supposed to permanently cure whatever was wrong. So it will deal with the root cause - it just takes time.

Also, just a little update on my situation. The Sepia seems to be working much better. When I wrote my original post, I had only been on it for maybe a week or 10 days. For some reason this remedy took a little longer to kick in, but it is working.

So now I'm fine until I need another new remedy. And hopefully this time if I can figure out quicker that it's starting to lose it's effectiveness I can get a new remedy that works before my depression gets too bad.

Thanks for the post. Apparently not too many people know about alternative medicines and I had pretty much given up on getting a response.

Thanks! :D

Dorothy,

if you see a Homeopath that deals with Classical Homeopathy -- especially for mental problems like depression -- he/she should take your case which takes about 2 to 3 hours and after evaluation --- 1 single remedy is given at a very high potency 1000X or higher and it should cure you -- maybe a follow up visit may be needed..

That was how my wife was cured of depression in 1981 by Dr George Guess, MD a homeopath in NC back then.

You can contact the National Center for Homeopathy located in Alexxander,VA 22314 and get a list of Health Care Professionals nation wide.

I wish you well~~~Harry
