My husband takes Lexapro for his depression. He has convinced himself that he only need take it PRN. When he wakes up in the morning and feels, "Blah" then he takes a pill for that day,he does NOT take this on a daily basis. I have tried telling him that he has to take it EVERY DAY in order for the medication to be effective. He will not make an appointment with a doctor unless he is "Sick." I'm looking for an opinion on if I'm correct or not that Lexapro is not a PRN medication.

No, lexapro is definately not an as needed medication. He has to take it everyday to let it build up in his system and then to keep the receptors where they need to be. Benzos can be taken on an as needed basis. Maybe he has those mixed up with the lexapro?
