Hi Im 16 and a few years ago i was diagnosed with reflux and I was told and read that wearing tight fitting clothing will worsen symptoms and i was wondering if anyone that has reflux can they reply and let me know if i can still wear Bra's and skirts and pants that dont have elastic in the waist.
Please i need help i want to be like anyother teenager and wear bra's and denim skirts, jeans without worring about pain.
Can anyone help me please

I have had acid reflux for many years, and it has never been better or worse by what I wear, but this is not to say that it may work that way for others.
Honey, your doctor should have either given you something for it or told you what you should buy over the counter if it is bad enough to take medicine for it. This is easy to control for most people, and it should not change the way you live your life. Just be cautious about what you eat because it might make it flare up. Cutting out certain foods (spicy, onions, etc) will certainly help.
Please don't let this worry you about not having a normal teenage life. If you were diagnosed awhile ago, and if tight bras and clothing doesn't bother you, then don't worry about it. Just be careful about taking medicine if you are suppose to, and avoid foods that bother you. I have had this for a long time, and I live a very happy life! So can you! :)

I was told the same thing about tight clothes. Take a look at your clothes as you try them on to see if they are pushing your stomach in. Tight pressure on your stomach will make it worse. I think you can find nice clothing that won't push too tight. I have never had my bra make a difference. Correct sizing of the pants helps--many jeans and pants now have a bit of spandex in them that helps stretch some. If you have a good fit, you don't have to go to elastic waists on everything.

the key item of fitting is around your waist. A bra shouldn't bother you unless it's really fitted wrong. Wearing jeans is not a problem, but you want to make sure they fit properly.. don't buy them overly-tight. The other thing I found was where the waist of the jeans sits. I always buy the low-cut jeans so they sit lower and don't dig into my stomach, and that helps a LOT! Plus I have no hips so that's the only type of jean that fits me properly anyways! lol! As for skirts.. same applies.. if it fits properly it shouldn't dig into your stomach. You don't have to stay away from elastic, just stay away from clothes that are too small or don't fit right.
