Yes, anahistamine drops can cause dry eyes.

Yes, eye pain can be due to allery or worse can be due to dry eyes.

Yes, using eye drops can cause more misery. You may be allergic to the preservative used in the drops and need to use preservative-free drops.

Yes, using steroid eyedrops too long can cause problems. Symptoms may vary from individual to individual. How long have you been using steroid eyedrops? Serious problems can develop from steroid eyedrops. My dr. limits time of use to a very short time, like a month.

Have you tried taking oral anahistamine for your allergy problem? Zyrtec, a prescription, works well. Refresh Plus in the preservative-free vials is good to keep eyes moistened and flushed out. Refresh Celluvisc is a thicker drop and works well to keep eyes moistened and help protect the eyes.

Are you sure you have an "eye allergy" or do you have "blepharitis" an infection of the oil glands in the eyelids?

Are you seeing an opthamologist or just an optometrist? Best to see an opthamologist.
